Little Miss Chatterbox

6 comment(s)
My little 3 and a half year-old is full of opinions and is always willing to share them with anyone who wants to listen. We had just returned home from a fun-filled day out - it was the Easter Fare held by her kindy in the morning followed by lunch and scootering in CW malls.

Here, she talks about friends in school, days of the week and butterflies!

Ballet Class : End of Term Parents' Day

5 comment(s)
I meant to blog this earlier before my memory becomes hazy but it has taken me almost a month after that to do so! Anyway, her 1st term of ballet classes from Apr-Jul 2010 went pretty well.

Her term started in April and at that time, she was 2 years 10 months old. The first day of class was pretty chaotic with parents scrambling to get the uniforms, get the feet measured for their ballet shoes and settling the kids. Shean Wenn was pretty clingy the 1st two classes and wanted me to be next to her throughout the class. However, by the 3rd class, she has settled on herself and allow me to be away from her but still in the room. By the 4th class, the teacher has requested that I leave the class :( (There were about 2 other kids who still needed their moms next to them. Infact, one of my friend's daughter refused to join the class and will sit & watch from the floor). Different kids, different strokes, eh.

Anyway both Meng & I can tell that she enjoys her ballet classes very much and she is very enthusiastic about her lessons. The only qualms I have is that I have to wake up at 7am every Saturday morning to prepare her for the class, and I'm not exactly a morning person! I do make sure that she gets her milk & some breakfast before her class so that she isn't hungry during her dances. I know how it feels having to attend classes on an empty stomach and it isn't a ncie feeling.

10 July 2010 : Last day of term and Parent's Day.
This is the day the parents are invited into the class to witness what the kids do during their ballet classes. The class is also conducted in a different hall from her usual class (a much better place with mirrors on the wall and laminated flooring instead of cement floor!). Also, Ms Lydie the ballet teacher has decided to hire a pianist accompanying the class (this is for next term). I think it makes so much more sense.

1) Start of the class : Teacher ensuring the kids do some warm-up by asking them to sit up straight & tall and doing their "pointy toes"/"bunny ears".
2) Forming a circle
3) Everyone in a circle sitting down during one of their various activities.
4) Ms Lydie guiding Shean Wenn to sit up straight & tall.
5 & 6) Listening and following instructions from the teacher.
7) Ms Lydie guiding the class.

Here're some videos I took of the class :
1 : One of their activities (alot of imagination involved)

2) Shean Wenn doing the Pony Trot : When I watched it again, i went "Awwww!" - my heart skipped a beat as I watch my not-so-little daughter progress in class.

Proud parents with Shean Wenn. She's actually a real morning person just like her dad! Mommy is the night-owl (see, I'm still editing & blogging this at 1am).

"Itsy-Bitsy" Singer

(At 2 Years 2.5Months-Old)

My husband ("the hub") usually puts Shean Wenn to bed at night. Whenever he is at home (ie if he comes home early enough), they will sing a few songs or read a few books prior to bed-time. Due to this, SW will instinctively know a few nursery rhymes/songs. Last week, she demonstrated that she can sing a whole song on her own. Well, the lyrics are not entirely "correct" but the gist is there. I consider it a good try!

Yo yo yo!

The S-to-the-W is in da house! One very bored evening, Meng decides to don his daughter in a red cap turned upside-down and turned her into an instant toddler rapper (minus the bling blings). And then Shean Wenn found her home slippers and asked him to wear it for her, she matched her slippers to the colour of the cap all by herself.
(Isn't she impish???!)

Guide to Happiness

3 comment(s)
Shean Wenn's FAST Guide to Happiness :

1. Have a "good hair day", everyday. Jazz up your looks, put on something interesting - life doesn't have to be all dull & boring.

Shean Wenn loved having her hair tied into ponytails (eventhough she doesn't leave it on for long). She puts on the sunglasses herself and checks herself out in the mirror.

2. Have your good friend/BFF (Best Friend Forever) around you - you will find your day to be much more enhanced when you have someone who's company you enjoy most. Share a story, talk, or just BE there for each other.

HUGS!

(Shean Wenn's new friend, Karmen loves to hug SW! So sweet!)

(A hug and a peck!)

(Spending time together doing what we love - Reading!)

3. Aim for the sky - "be an aeroplane!"

(The hubs taught SW a few months ago how to pretend to be an aeroplane; fling your arms to the back, outstretched like the wings of a plane. She LOVES doing the aeroplane whenever you ask her to. Sometimes she even does it whenever she hears a plane flying by the apartment - we live near an airport)

XOXO,
Shean Wenn

Little Miss Vain

3 comment(s)
From the diary of Miss Shean Wenn (aka Miss Vainpot) :

TIPS : ACCESORIES

There is a reason why they say your hair is your "Crowning Glory" - a hairband is great way to accesorise the hair.

Look how I am transformed!

And how your eyes are the windows to your soul - and to preserve the beauty and sparkle of these "windows", do keep a pair of sunnies in your bags (or in my case, my mummy's bag) to shield it against the harmful UV rays of the sun!

If you can, please invest in a good pair for protection and it'll be a bonus if it matches your outfit! **wink**

Wishing you everyday of good-hair-day and eyebags-free,
Shean Wenn

Confessions of a bookworm

She really loves her books..

She will read them first thing in the mornings, or when she is bored during the day, and the last thing before going to bed.

This morning she woke up at 6am, I carried her out from her cot and lay her down next to me on my bed. Usually she will read by herself, babbling incessantly along with the pages. Today, she poked me with the book - my eyes almost went blind, my nose mercilessly being hit a few times. She wants me to read her a story. I am not a morning person, certainly not so between 5.00-7.30am (just let me sleep!). I grudgingly took the book (for fear of being blinded) flipped through it and mumbled "Doggy Wooow wooow and Bear Ggrrrrrr were playing ball on the beach" (I always teach her the animals by accompanying the sound that the respective animals make)- I hear her grumbling, as though unhappy. I opened one eye - OOOOPS, the book is upside-down. I flipped back the right side up and continued the story which I now know by heart... she happily responded with every of my word. After 2 pages, I fell back asleep and she left me alone, reading on her own again.

(Her favourite books - "In the Night Garden"'s Makka Pakka Washed Faces & All Aboard the Ninky-Nonk)

Sometimes at night, she will even hug her book to sleep! -_-"

Little Miss Yoga (Instructor)

From the studio of Yoga-mistress Shean Wenn : doing The Sun Salutation

1. Start with this "praying" position (the rest of the Yoga World calls this the "Stick" pose).

2. Then, with a strong push : Exhale, lift from the hips and push back and up! The "Downward Dog".

3. Don't forget to smile!

The past couple of weeks, she has found a new hobby. She does this everytime during nappy-changing time which is exasperating for us nappy-changers. Halfway through a nappy change, she would run away and do one of this Yoga poses and we would have to chase her down to finish the job! But once in her nappy, and she doing this, I find it just too cute. I love it when you run your fingers (like a spider) and "catch" her nose with them (your fingers).. and she would just burst out laughing....

The Little "Souz Chef"

4 comment(s)
The past 2 months, I noticed Shean Wenn has been having a little "separation anxiety". Our apartment is quite small and when i put her in her playpen, she will be able to see me even if i moved into the kitchen. i really do not see a reason why she would want to scream for me, or if she isn't "impris*ned", she would drop everything that she is doing and crawl into the kitchen to look for me.

This might explain why... Perhaps my Shean Wenn has been busy learning essential "living skills" while being with mummy in the kitchen.

Or perhaps, she just have the "Wong" genes (as demonstrated by her cousin Marwin, who displays a flair for "cooking" with his own set of kitchen)....

We were at ELC today, with intention of buying a gift for SW's friend who's birthday party is next weekend. We lingered for an hour or more in the store. The hubs saw this kitchen set and put SW down to gauge her reaction to it - she was really enthusiastic about it! Look...

(Ratatouille peeking at the Little Souz Chef at work)
SW was actually using a ladle/spoon to "stir-fry" a lemon in a "wok" - which is actually a sink!

She, mimicking the ways of pottering around the kitchen : At one point, she even kneeled down to open the "cabinet" underneath the sink to take out some dishes from the "dishwasher".

("I really love this")

And when it was time to go back, hubs had to literally tear her away from the kitchen set! She gave out a loud scream and kicked her legs in protest. By golly, I didn't know she would be SO ENTHUSIASTIC about it!

The set costs £60, but they are currently running a promotion in-store that when you buy the kitchen set, you get a free accessory set worth £30 (plus, I have a £5 off voucher to spend instore for June).

Personally, I would have preferred her to enjoy playing with garage sets or those boys' tools kit. But well... if she likes this, she likes this.

Shean Wenn meets with Tobey again. This time, for a week.

This evening, Tobey's dad decided to pop into the shop to get this for him. Tobey is a gracious host and decides to share his toy laptop with Shean Wenn.

Tobey : "Ok Shean Wenn, I let you type on my spanking new laptop. Go ahead!"
SW : "Ok Tobey. Thanks"

Tobey : "Shean Wenn, can you please let me have a go at it as well?"
SW : "No Tobey, you can use the mouse"

Tobey : "Uhh, Shean Wenn.. you have been typing for a long time....."
SW : *busy typing*

Tobey : "Give it back to me .. or else ......"
SW : "Hey!"

Tobey : "Gee, I have been relegated to using this laptop instead (it has way far too little keys. Where is the QWERTY keyboard?)?"

SW :" Teeheehee.... all to myself!"

Tobey spotted the REAL adult laptop! Smart boy...

After their dinners : There they go again..... just can't get enough of it!!
